Bail Cut for Husband of Murder Victim
VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) _ Prosecutors have agreed to reduce the bail for a Bay Area man charged with explosives possession after the body of his wife was found in the couple's home.
Authorities found a cache of bomb-making chemicals in Charles Rittenhouse's Vallejo house last week while searching for his wife, who along with her friend had been reported missing. Police found their decomposing bodies on the property.
Prosecutors charged Rittenhouse, a chemist, with two counts of explosives possession but never arrested him in the deaths.
He is expected to post $25,000 bail Wednesday after it was reduced from $2 million during a morning hearing.
Authorities are still investigating whether a former house guest, Efren Valdemoro, is responsible for the Vallejo killings, and at least two others.
