Groceries Coming To Southern Marin With Target Store Opening
MARIN CITY (KCBS) -- A Marin City shopping center that has struggled for years with vacant storefronts has just signed a deal to have Target come in as an anchor tenant.
People who live in the area are hopeful it will help revitalize an area devoid of grocery stores. The new Target store will carry fresh produce, meat, and other food staples for the community.
"It's needed. For the food, the food we have a few things here in CVS, but you only get like bananas; no fresh meat. So, I think it's great," lifelong southern Marin resident Sheree Brown-White told KCBS.
"We're hopeful to get a lot of restaurants. In fact, we're working with a number of chef-inspired restaurants, so we can bring something special in the dining category to southern Marin," Terrence Tallen, a representative from the shopping center's owners said.
But, the new store will bring the total number of Targets in Marin County to three, which is too many for some.
"San Rafael is a hop, skip, and a jump up the road from here. If they didn't have one there, I'd say this would be a great place," Sausalito resident Tim Parker said.
The store is expected to open next March, and bring 100 jobs to the area.
