Driver Killed In Milpitas Connector Ramp Crash

MILPITAS (CBS SF) - A 52-year-old San Jose man died Friday morning after his car went off the roadway on a connector ramp to state Highway 237 in Milpitas, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported shortly before 6:10 a.m. near the ramp from Calaveras Boulevard to westbound Highway 237.

A man driving a 1991 Toyota was in the far left lane at about 35 mph when he lost control of the vehicle, the CHP said.

The Toyota went off the roadway into a dirt embankment and overturned onto its roof.

The driver of the Toyota, who has not been identified, was not ejected but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the CHP. The driver was wearing his seatbelt.

The left lane of the ramp was closed for about two and a half hours because of the investigation into the crash.
