A's Plan $30 Million Renovation Of Spring Training Home
PHOENIX (AP) - Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff is in talks with Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon over a $30 million renovation project for the A's spring training facilities.
Wolff, in Phoenix for a couple of days "to put everything in shape," talked about the plans to upgrade the facilities on Wednesday at the A's minor league camp at Papago Park.
He says the team wants to stay in Phoenix for spring training and that he believes the A's will work it out with the city.
Wolff says the structure at Papago Park needs to be torn down and rebuilt to accommodate the growing needs of the organization. Phoenix Municipal Stadium needs modernized infrastructure.
Municipal Stadium was built in 1964.
