Artificial Turf Stolen From Hayward Church
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- Evil got the best of a thief who made off with an East Bay church's artificial turf.
Pastor Raoul Robles got a big surprise when he walked into the parking lot of the Bay Hills Community Church in Hayward to find that 600-pounds of artificial turf had been stolen.
"I go, 'something's different.' And I walk over here, and the grass is gone," Robles told KPIX 5.
The church installed the astro turf about a year ago to deal with the drought after church members Cloyd and Kathy Ridenour donated the lawn.
"This was the best thing we could do for the church," Kathy Ridenour said.
The astro turf is estimated to have cost around $5,000. Nobody witnessed the crime.
