Arrest Made In Sacramento Shootout That Killed 2
SACRAMENTO (AP) - Authorities said Thursday that a suspect is in custody in connection with a shootout at a Sacramento strip mall that killed two people and injured five others.
Sheriff's officials arrested 24-year-old Lonnie Mitchell on Thursday morning in Southern California. They say the California Highway Patrol helped deputies capture the suspect, who was found near the Grapevine on Interstate 5.
Investigators believe Mitchell was one of at least four people who exchanged gunfire inside a barber shop Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say a woman was struck by a bullet while trying to protect her toddler son, and a man died from his injuries at the hospital the next day. The other shooting victims are expected to survive.
Mitchell is being held in a Santa Clarita jail.
