Tech Report: Apple Sues Amazon Over App Store
CUPERTINO (KCBS) – Apple is suing Amazon.com, accusing the online retailer of using Apple's "App Store" trademark to sell software for Android devices.
The complaint was filed last Friday and accuses Amazon.com of trademark infringement and unfair competition.
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid:
KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid said he's not sure how important the actual lawsuit is, as changing the name of the store is an easy process.
But Magid said the important point is the fact that Amazon is trying to put together a store where customers can get apps that have been vetted and tied into their customer's preferences.
Magid said he believes the Amazon store will prove to be successful because of the fact that the company knows so much about its customers.
