Apple Lawsuit Alleges Breach Of Privacy
CUPERTINO (KCBS) _ Apple is being slapped with a lawsuit involving an alleged breach of privacy over iPads and iPhones.
The suit claims that users' personal data has been sold to third party advertisers.
The information is everything from what software is being downloaded onto an iPad or iPhone and how much it's used to a users' location, age, gender, ethnicity and even sexual orientation, all of it without permission.
KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:
Christina Gagnier, an attorney who specializes in cyberspace law, said that she's not surprised by the lawsuit.
"I think this is the tip of the iceberg with privacy lawsuits," she said. "I think we hear that privacy is dead and I hate when we hear that because there's so many new people using devices and I think lawsuits like this are reflective of that."
Several software developers are named in the lawsuit, including Pandora, Paper Toss and the Weather Channel.
The plaintiff is a man from Los Angeles County. There is no comment so far from Apple, although they rarely say anything about pending litigation.
