Antioch Residents March Against Crime
ANTIOCH (KCBS) - Members of various Antioch churches united Sunday in the name of crime prevention. The evening gathering included prayers and a march through an older area of town.
"When there's violence, the community will not tolerate it," declared Wade Harper, Antioch Mayor Pro Tem. "We're going to come together, we're going to pray and we're not going to be labeled as a violent in city and be compared to the other cities that experience multiple homicides."
"Compared to many other cities, Antioch is not as bad," he reasoned. "We have a lot of wonderful community events going on in our city."

Still, crime is happening in Antioch - as one marcher recalled his own experience with burglars a few years ago.
"Busted a window, got in, took a bunch of stuff and now we've got an alarm. Our neighbor got robbed and you know, pretty much all the houses got hit," the man said.
Last month, Antioch received word that it would be the recipient of a $1.5 million federal grant to hire 5 more police officers.
