Antioch Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A man who was shot and killed by Antioch police officers on Thursday afternoon has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 35-year-old Denny Gonzales.
Gonzales reportedly called police and sounded distraught as he said he was going to kill himself and a police officer and indicated he may have already killed an officer, according to police.
After several more threatening calls, officers were able to track down where he lived and found him in his garage in the 4800 block of Lefebvre Way around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The man was standing in his driveway holding a gun, which officers asked him to put down. He responded by firing at least one round at the officers, who then fired back and killed him, according to police.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office is conducting a joint investigation into the shooting with Antioch police, as is standard protocol.
