Antioch Police Find Large Marijuana Grow While Investigating Shooting
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) – Officers investigated an apparent shooting early Saturday morning at an Antioch house that was determined to be the site of a large marijuana growing operation, according to police.
At 3:10 a.m. Saturday, Antioch police received a call about gunshots and a van speeding away from a home in the 900 block of Badger Pass Way.
Police said responding officers located the van, which had a number of bullet holes in it. There was 10 pounds of fresh marijuana and equipment to grow it in the van, police said.
Police identified the female driver as 34-year-old Chun Li. The passenger, who was suffering a head injury that was not a gunshot wound, was identified as 37-year-old Jianhong Li.
Back at the home they apparently drove away from, officers found that the garage door had been forced open from the inside as if the van drove through it, police said.
There were bullet holes in the walls of the home. Police said the home was being used for indoor marijuana cultivation.
After a search warrant was later served there, officers found more than 300 mature marijuana plants, police said.
The two occupants of the van were the only suspects reportedly arrested by police. They were booked into Martinez Detention Facility.
Police are still investigating the incident.
