Antioch Man Shot During Attempted Robbery
ANTIOCH (BCN) - Police were searching for the gunmen who attacked a 20-year-old Antioch man Thursday in the area of Knoll Park during an attempted robbery.
Neighbors began reporting hearing gunshots in the area of Country Hills Drive and Valley Way sometime around 12:10 p.m., police said, and responding officers located one victim in front of a nearby house.
The male victim had sustained several gunshot wounds to the torso and one to the face, police said. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he was treated for what police said were not life threatening injuries.
Several men approached the victim as he sat on a table in the park, and the suspects attempted to rob him. The victim resisted, and the suspects opened fire.
Officers searched the area but failed to find those responsible.
The shooting remains under investigation and witnesses are asked to contact police at (925) 778-3911.
