Antioch Considers Laying Off Officers
ANTIOCH, (KCBS) - Six Antioch police officers are due to be laid off this weekend to save $750,000.
The police union was set to meet with the mayor and city manager Tuesday morning to try and save the officers' jobs.
Police union president Sgt. Tom Fuhrmann said he knows Antioch is struggling financially.
KCBS' Bob Butler Reports:
"We recognize that everyone is having to make concessions during these tough budgetary times," he said.
But Fuhrmann added that the department is already understaffed and crime is rising.
The deficit next year is projected to be at least $3 million.
