Antioch Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Fiery Highway 4 Crash
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) - A suspect in an armed robbery at a convenience store in Antioch early Friday morning was arrested after a fiery crash on state Highway 4.
Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at the Bonfare Market at 907 W. 10th St. in Antioch around 12:55 a.m., police said.
Officers arriving on the scene noticed a car leaving the area. After losing sight of the vehicle, officers spotted it again moments later unoccupied, crashed and on fire on Highway 4 near the 600 block of West Tregallas Road, police said.
Police quickly set up a perimeter around the area and located a man in a yard in the 2700 block of D Street.
After a brief struggle, the man, a 22-year-old Antioch resident, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and assaulting a police officer.
He was taken to a hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries, according to police.
The man remains in custody and is expected to be booked into county jail.
Police declined to release the man's name and said investigators were looking into the possibility of additional suspects in the robbery.
