Another Officer-Involved Fatality After Hi-Speed Chase; Suspect Shot, Killed In San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS) -- There has been a second officer-involved shooting following a high-speed chase, in as little as 12 hours. This one was in San Jose and involved as many as 13 police cars.
The shooting happened on Blossom and Calero Avenues just after 3 p.m., Saturday in South San Jose.
Police told KPIX 5 that an officer observed a person in a car who looked suspicious. When police approached, the vehicle sped off. The high-speed chase ensued, circling the same neighborhood several times.
Eventually, police managed to disable the suspect's vehicle. When the suspect jumped out, officers say they saw a weapon and responded with gunfire.
Details of the fatal shooting were still emerging Saturday evening.
This is the second officer-involved fatality Saturday. Earlier, a Daly city officer shot and killed a man near Candlestick Park.
