Another Attack At Napa State Hospital, Patient Arrested
NAPA (CBS / AP) -- More violence has broken out at a state-run mental hospital where in the past year one worker was killed, a second beaten and a third sexually assaulted.
The California Department of Mental Health said a Napa State Hospital patient was arrested on suspicion of attacking another patient.
The department did not identify the suspect in Wednesday's attack or describe the condition of the victim, who was hospitalized.
The Napa Valley Register reports that hospital police transported 31-year-old Victor Mandujano to Napa County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
At least one hospital staff member suffered minor injuries on Sunday when a patient became unruly. Safety conditions at the hospital have become a major point of dispute between hospital workers' unions and the mental health department.
