Anonymous Hackers Take Over Ku Klux Klan Twitter Account, Reveal Members After Ferguson Taunts
(CBS SF) – The hacker activist group Anonymous has reportedly gone after the Ku Klux Klan's Twitter accounts in response to the hate group's taunts ahead of the grand jury's decision in the Michael Brown fatal shooting case.
According to The Guardian, the white supremacist group threatened "lethal force" against Ferguson protesters in the St. Louis area in anticipation of the grand jury's decision. The jurors are weighing whether of not to indict the Ferguson, Missouri police officer that fatally shot Brown in August.
In response, the hackers responded to hate group's online posts by revealing identities of Klan members in the St. Louis area. When the Klan mocked Anonymous' operations, the hackers took over the Klan's Twitter accounts.
Anonymous continued to have control of the Twitter account on Monday and planned to release additional information.
Gov. Jay Nixon of Missouri has issued a state of emergency in the St. Louis area and called in the National Guard to handle possible unrest after the decision is handed out.
