Annual Pothole Report Ranks Bay Area Roads
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The Metropolitan Transportation Commission is out with its annual Bay Area pothole report, and the best scoring city is Brentwood, with 86 out of 100 points.
"It has a lot of newer streets, there's no question," said John Goodwin with the MTC.
El Cerrito came in a close second with 85 points.
"The people of El Cerrito determined that pavement quality is an important priority and dug into their own pockets by approving a local sales tax," said Goodwin.
KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:
The worst streets belong to Orinda, St. Helena, Larkspur and Rio Vista. Maybe their city councils should study a technique highlighted in the annual pothole report: Cold in Place Recycling. In this method, a big grader shaves down a road, adds some new materials and essentially lays down a fresh new road.
