Family Finds 175-Pound Bear In Backyard Of Ventura Home
VENTURA (CBS SF) — A Southern California family woke up to a huge surprise: a 175-pound black bear lurking in their backyard.
Jemima Metcalf says her dogs started barking at the bushes outside of her Ventura home Monday night, but she figured it was just a raccoon, or a possum.
Then on Tuesday morning, her 5-year-old daughter saw the bear in the backyard.
A few hours later, a warden from the Department of Fish and Wildlife fired a tranquilizer dart and was released into the wild later that afternoon.
