UPDATE: Boy Abducted in Sacramento Found Safe in Hayward; Kidnapper Arrested
SACRAMENTO (CBS SF/CBS Sacramento) -- A young boy who was abducted in Sacramento Friday night -- triggering an amber alert in the East Bay -- was found safe early Saturday morning in Hayward with the shooting suspect who had kidnapped him, according to authorities.
An amber alert was issued in Alameda and Contra Costa counties Friday night for the child, 3-year-old Leo Norvell, after was abducted from Sacramento shortly before 5 p.m. Friday.
The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Joshua Yago, who the CHP said should be considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities posted on Twitter that the child had been found safe shortly before 3 a.m.
Authorities initially did not say if Yago had also been located, but Sacramento police confirmed shortly after 8 a.m. that he was found with the boy in Hayward and taken into custody. Police said they were working to reunite the boy with his family.
According to the Sacramento police department, Yago is the suspect in a double shooting that left a man and a woman injured on the 3900 block of 63rd Street Friday.
Norvell is the female victim's child. Police said Yago and Norvell know each other.
The victims in the shooting suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Police said Yago will be booked on charges related to the kidnapping and earlier shooting. The investigation into the crimes remains active.
