Amber Alert Issued After 4 Children Were Abducted In SoCal
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) -- The California Highway Patrol is activating an Amber Alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department. This Amber Alert is in effect statewide.
A child abduction occurred on March 14, at 12:30 p.m. in Los Angeles. The children, all Hispanic, are 5-year-old Justin Felix, 7-year-old Enrique Felix, 1-year-old Veronica Felix and 1-year-old Janeth Felix.
The suspects are Rose Chairez, a 28-year-old Hispanic female and Enrique Felix, a 28-year-old Hispanic male. They are believed to be driving a dark-colored, possibly gray or purple Chrysler P-T Cruiser with paper plates and a missing hub cap.
Police said the children were taken from their maternal grandmother's home in the 1400 block of North Indiana Street about 12:30 p.m. Friday.
The children's parents, Chairez and Felix, no longer have custody.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services placed the children in the custody of their grandmother because of alleged incidents of violence towards the children and their mother.
On Friday evening, authorities made a public plea to return the children.
"The safety of the children is primary here and I think in this case, I'm asking you just to do the right thing and bring the children in if you are watching," said LAPD Capt. Martin Baez.
The family may be headed to Mexico, authorities said.
