Alleged DUI Driver Nearly Hits CHP Officer During Separate DUI Arrest
BODEGA (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol arrested two drivers on suspicion of DUI Thursday afternoon, including a driver who came upon the scene of one of the arrests.
The CHP responded around 3:30 p.m. to a collision between a 1999 Honda Civic and a 2008 Honda CRV on Bodega Highway east of Spring Hill School Road in unincorporated Sonoma County west of Sebastopol, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
No one was injured but Santa My, 24, of Rohnert Park, the driver of the Honda Civic, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving on a suspended license and a violation of probation for a previous DUI, Sloat said.
During the accident investigation, another motorist stopped and informed the CHP officers that an eastbound white Chevrolet truck was weaving on the road about five miles from Bodega Bay, Sloat said.
The truck approached the accident scene and almost struck one of the CHP officers who was trying to advise the driver to pull over, according to Sloat.
The driver, Jose Solorio Hernandez, 22, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving without a license, Sloat said.
Randy McGinnis, a Cazadero resident, was also arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury around 3 a.m. Friday when his 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis ran off Cazadero Highway south of Paradise Grove and struck a tree, Sloat said.
McGinnis, 43, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered back and head injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was arrested, Sloat said.
Two women in the car, Jade Seitz, 27, of Healdsburg, and Kathryn Morgan, 34, of Sebastopol, suffered broken bones and other injuries and also were taken to a hospital, Sloat said.
