Alameda County Deputies Round Up Herd Of Wayward Goats
DUBLIN (CBS SF) -- Alameda County Sheriff's deputies have taken on a new role: goat herders.
Deputies are trying to track down the owner of a herd of rogue goats found last week in Dublin.
The goats were wandering in a field east of Dublin Ranch Golf Course on May 23. The deputies helped corral the goats and are keeping them in a pen behind Santa Rita Jail, according to sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly.
The goats have plenty of grass to eat there, but Kelly said the sheriff's office isn't looking to care for them permanently and is seeking the goats' owner.
If they can't find the owner in the next 30 days, the goats will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to Animal Control, Kelly said.
The sheriff's office is asking the owner of the goats to call Animal Control at (925) 803-7040. If the owner comes forward, the sheriff's
office will arrange transport for the goats, Kelly said.
