Airlines Plan Expanded Service At San Jose Mineta
SAN JOSE (KCBS) — Flying out of Silicon Valley should be even easier this year, with airlines adding more flights and destinations out of Mineta San Jose Airport.
"Airlines have already announced that they plan to expand service in 2014," said Airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes. She added that the three carriers that will be expanding flights as well as launching new service are; Alaska, Delta, and Southwest.
Barnes said percentage-wise, Mineta added more passengers in 2013 than the Bay Area's other two airports.
"There are a number of reasons why passengers are travelling through San Jose Airport more and more. We have added new airlines and new destinations. Specifically, All Nippon Airways is now flying daily to Tokyo," she said.
But if your destination is closer to home, Barnes said Virgin America heads to Los Angeles from SJC four times a day.
"[It's] very popular service for high-tech travelers for both of those flights."
Barnes said they're seeing an increase in both business and leisure travel.
