About The Bay: Giants Fans Trek To Detroit, Some From Across The Globe
DETROIT (KCBS) - San Francisco Giants fans are ecstatic that their team swept the Detroit Tigers in four games, though some wish they could have seen the World Series clincher happen on home turf.
While a majority of Giants fans had to stay in the Bay Area to watch and cheer their team, many made the trek to Detroit to see their team win the title.
One Giants fan I ran into at Comerica Park even traveled halfway around the world to root on the Giants.
"I came all the way from Afghanistan to watch a couple of World Series games," Priya Butler said. "Hoping to see the Giants win."
She is originally from Santa Cruz, and is currently stationed overseas as an employee of the USO.
"I've been a Giants fan my whole life and I've never been able to go to the World Series and I couldn't go in 2010 and I said if they're ever going, I don't care what it takes, I'm going to a game."
She took seven planes over a two-day period to get to Detroit, at a cost of $4,000.

Some fans had a "measly" plane trip from San Francisco to Detroit.
"Thank you for winning this in four, we made the journey all the way from San Francisco!" one Bay Area man enthused after Sunday's game.
He traveled from the Bay Area with several buddies.
"We want to give a big shout out to the San Francisco Giants for making this possible," they yelled themselves hoarse.
