Man Dies After Driving Into Ravine Near Stinson Beach
MARIN (CBS SF) -- Both directions of state Highway One reopened after an 83-year-old man died Saturday when his vehicle went into a ravine off the highway near Stinson Beach, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash was reported about 11:25 a.m., CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said. Due to the rough terrain, a helicopter was called to assist with the crash in Marin County.
A Sig-alert was issued at about 12:05 p.m. Both the north and southbound lanes were blocked as a result of the crash. The PT Cruiser still needed to be recovered and the coroner was en route at that time, Bartlett said.
No one else was in the car, and no other vehicles were involved.
