8 Arrested, Drugs Seized In Raid Of East Oakland Home
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Authorities said they uprooted a significant criminal enterprise Tuesday afternoon when armed FBI and swat teams raided a home in East Oakland.
The FBI and the Oakland Police Department served search warrants at the home located on the 2300 block of 90th Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
The warrant authorizing a search for illegal weapons and narcotics was served around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to Johnna Watson, spokesperson for the Oakland Police Department.
Eight men were arrested in the operation. Authorities said they seized ammunition, including illegal clips, three pounds of marijuana, along with narcotics and a large amount of cash.
The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation that police have been working on with the FBI over the past several months, Watson said.
During the search police locked down nearby Castlemont High School and stopped pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area.
The investigation is looking into whether today's arrests and seizures are related to gang activity, Watson said.
The names of those arrested and exact charges were not immediately available, Watson said.
