76ers To Interview Warriors' Malone For Head Coaching Job
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS SF) – The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly asked for, and received permission, to interview Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone for their vacant head coaching position.
The report from Yahoo! Sports said that Malone is considered a "serious" candidate for the 76ers job.
The Sixers are said to be doing extensive research into Malone, who has been the Warriors' highest-paid assistant under Mark Jackson the past two seasons.
Malone's Warriors are currently headed to the second round of the NBA playoffs to face the San Antonio Spurs after defeating the Denver Nuggets in their opening round series.
Utah Jazz assistant coach Jeff Hoernacek is also considered a candidate to replace Doug Collins - who is still with the 76ers, but now in a front-office role.
