7 Injured In 2-Alarm Fremont House Fire
FREMONT (KCBS) — Seven people, including two police officers and two firefighters, were injured in a two-alarm blaze at a home in Fremont early Monday Morning, fire officials said.
Crews responded to a report of a house fire in the 3800 block of Farwell Drive around 4:30 a.m., Fremont fire Capt. Daniel Cardenas said.
When crews arrived, they found flames shooting out of the roof of the home and a man trying to escape from a high window. Firefighters and police officers worked together to get him out.
"They ended up assisting us by having to drive their vehicle up to that window so that firefighters didn't have to go back to go get a ladder; they just got on the hood of that police unit and were able to get though the window and pull out the first victim—a male victim who was conscious at the time," Cardenas said.

Two other unconscious victims were found inside—a male and female—and were rescued though a side window. All three residents were rushed to hospitals.
The firefight changed from an offensive approach into a defensive one when firefighters got inside the home and the roof started to collapse causing injuries to two firefighters. Both suffered moderate to minor injuries, according to Cardenas. They were transported to hospitals to be treated for their injuries.
The two police officers who assisted with the rescue also suffered smoke inhalation and were being treated.
The cause of the fire was being investigated but the structure is a total loss.
