6-Year-Old Severly Hurt In San Ramon 680 Crash

SAN RAMON (BCN) - A 6-year-old suffered major injuries in a crash on Interstate Highway 680 in San Ramon Monday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported at about 2:30 p.m. on northbound I-680 just south of Bollinger Canyon Road.

Initial reports indicated a red Ford Explorer rear-ended a white Ford Focus, CHP Officer A. Paulson said.

Four people in the Ford Focus were injured, including a 6-year-old who was airlifted to a hospital, Paulson said.

The CHP shut down two lanes of the highway and the Bollinger Canyon Road off-ramp so a medical helicopter could land.

As of about 3:30 p.m., two northbound lanes remained closed.
