6 Arrested In String Of San Pablo Burglaries
SAN PABLO (CBS SF) - A group of people who police believe are responsible for a string of burglaries across San Pablo during the holiday season have been arrested and charged, police said Wednesday.
Since Thanksgiving, police have arrested six East Bay residents on suspicion of burglary after catching them near the San Pablo homes they burglarized, San Pablo police Detective Sgt. Scott Cook said.
Cook said the six suspects arrested for allegedly breaking into homes between late November and late December formed two groups targeting different San Pablo neighborhoods.
Burglary charges were filed Wednesday against four of the suspects for a Dec. 27 burglary in the 2800 block of 21st Street, Cook said.
That afternoon, witness spotted 21-year-old Troy Moon, of Oakland, and Richmond residents Devontray Williams, 19, trying to break into a home there through a rear window as Erica Williams, 19, and Deszeray Williams, 18, stood at the front of the house.
The group fled before police arrived, but returned to the home the next day, and to the same neighborhood on Dec. 29, prompting a witness to call police. Three suspects were arrested at the scene, and one at her home in Richmond, police said.
Police believe that they burglarized at least three other homes in western San Pablo, stealing TVs, jewelry and other valuables.
On the morning of Dec. 22, police arrested two other burglary suspects—San Pablo resident Terrell Simpson, 18, and a juvenile accomplice -- after someone reported they were breaking and entering a home in the 1800 block of 17th Street.
The pair fled after the witness confronted them, but was arrested nearby shortly thereafter.
Police believe the two may be responsible for five similar home burglaries in the area, Cook said. Both have been charged with residential burglary.
Cook said that since the arrests, the break-in trend has stopped.
"I haven't seen a residential burglary come across my desk since these guys were arrested," he said.
