6 Arrested In Gilroy Man's Torture, Gun Thefts

GILROY (CBS / AP) -- Santa Clara County authorities have arrested six people for allegedly breaking into a Gilroy home and torturing the owner before fleeing with a valuable gun collection.

Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Rick Sung said four men were arrested this week on suspicion of attempted murder, conspiracy and torture in connection with the ambush at the home of Gary Wise, who was tied up, beaten and had chemicals doused on his body.

A fifth man has been detained for possession of stolen property. A 17-year-old boy also was arrested.

Authorities said three masked men broke into Wise's home on Feb. 6, obtained a passcode to his safe and stole dozens of weapons. The victim's pickup truck later was found burned in neighboring Santa Cruz County.
