5.6 Earthquake Shakes Colombia, Ecuador
(CBS SF) -- A strong earthquake has shaken an area of South America along the Colombia-Ecuador border region Monday.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake struck at 12:33 Pacific Time with a magnitude of 5.6 and was located about 70 miles northeast of Quito, Ecuador.
The USGS originally reported the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.0, later downgraded to 5.6.
The quake had a depth of six miles. There was no immediate word of damage or injuries.
