5 Hurt In Drive-By Shooting Near East Palo Alto McDonalds

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Five people were shot and injured at a bus stop near an East Palo Alto McDonalds restaurant in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Police were called to the area around 2:48 p.m. when gunshots were detected near the restaurant at 2401 University Avenue, Detective John Norden said.

Officers arriving on the scene found five shooting victims at a bus stop on Bay Road, on the west side of the restaurant. Four of the victims were young Hispanic males, and the fifth was an elderly Hispanic woman, who was there with a six-year old child.

The victims were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Norden said.

The victims told investigators they were waiting for a bus when a gray or silver colored small car approached from northbound Bay Road. The car stopped at the bus stop, and an occupant fired several shots at the victims before driving away, Norden said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information should contact Detective John Norden at (650) 798-5954 or contact East Palo Police.
