5 Arrests In Santa Rosa Narcotics, Firearms Sting
SANTA ROSA (CBS / BCN) -- A four-month investigation by Santa Rosa police detectives working with the FBI netted the arrest Wednesday of five people who are suspected of selling firearms and narcotics.
Yohannes Tekie Gebrezgie, 25, was taken into custody on a series of arrest warrants totaling $3.5 million. Gebrezgie, of Cloverdale, is suspected of transportation and sales of narcotics and firearms.
About 15 pounds of marijuana was recovered when law enforcement officers served a search warrant at his Cloverdale home.
Detectives located an M4 assault rifle during a search of Gebrezgie's storage locker, and a stolen motorcycle was also recovered at the property, police said.
Gebrezgie's live-in girlfriend, Sara Safa, 30, was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale.
Safa also faces charges of possession for sales of 15 pounds of marijuana, possession of an assault rifle, and possession of a stolen motorcycle.
Over the course of the investigation, large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana were purchased along with four guns, including three handguns and one UZI semi-automatic sub-machine gun, police said.
Saimon Teskeste Sengal, 25, was arrested on a $200,000 warrant for the sale of cocaine - a charge of possession of marijuana for sale was later added - and 183 marijuana plants were recovered from his home after officers served a search warrant there.
An additional two pounds of processed marijuana was seized, along with evidence of narcotics sales, police said. A 40-caliber Glock pistol and $3,500 in cash was also recovered.
About five pounds of processed marijuana and other evidence of narcotics sales was recovered from the Santa Rosa home of Aman Behre, 28, who was arrested on a $200,000 warrant for the sale of marijuana, police said.
A $500,000 arrest warrant for the sale of marijuana was also issued for Soloman Gebrezgie, 19, who was in custody at the Sonoma County Jail on an unrelated investigation.
