5.4 Quake Rolls Through So-Cal
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A seismic analyst says a moderate earthquake that has shaken up Southern California appears to be on a fault stressed by Easter's 7.2-magnitude quake along the U.S.-Mexico border.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries or major damage after the magnitude-5.4 quake struck Wednesday shortly before 5 p.m.
It was centered 28 miles south of Palm Springs.
Anthony Guarino says at least a dozen aftershocks have been recorded, the largest of which measured 3.6.
Kate Hutton of the California Institute of Technology says Wednesday's quake isn't considered an aftershock of the Easter temblor, but a quake triggered by it.
She says strain from the April quake has transferred up to a different fault zone.
