49ers Send Note To Fans Reminding Them How To Cheer, Dress
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The stakes are high for this weekend's NFC West showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, so much so that 49ers executives felt it necessary to remind the faithful how to dress and cheer for the home squad.
Seattle (11-1) comes into the rivalry game as the odds-on favorite to secure home field advantage through the NFC playoffs. A win Sunday would help the reigning NFC champion Niners (8-4) edge much closer to locking up a wildcard spot and keep the NFC West crown in play. However, the Seahawks have outscored the 49ers 71-16 in the last two meetings — both wins by Seattle at home.
With the stakes so high, the 49ers have rolled out the "Home Field Advantage Plan For Gameday," reports Deadspin. The campaign was emailed out to fans reminding them to wear red to the stadium and reserve their loudest cheers for when the 49ers are on defense. It also pointed out some popular cheers, including "Let's Go Niners."
Deadspin obtained an internal memo by VP of ticketing Jamie Brandt to a number of fellow employees. Fans were only emailed the portion of the below message introducing campaign:
Seattle fans have already upped the ante by plotting to fly a Seahawks banner over the stadium Sunday.
