49ers QB Smith Uncertain About Extent Of Shoulder Sprain
LONDON (AP) - San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith spent Monday morning at a hospital in London, and was still waiting to hear if a left shoulder injury will keep him from playing against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
The 49ers (1-6) flew to London from Charlotte, where they blew a late lead and lost to the Carolina Panthers 23-20. Smith was injured on a third-quarter sack and still had his arm in a sling Monday afternoon.
After arriving at the team's hotel from the hospital, Smith said "it's all right. Could be better."
San Francisco coach Mike Singletary said he had no idea if Smith will be ready to face the Broncos in the NFL's fourth regular-season game in the British capital, adding "I'm not a doctor, so we'll have to wait and see."
