SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday for season ticket holders, and 1 p.m. for the general public. They didn't last long.

Fans searching for seats were unable to buy any within seconds of the 1 p.m. release - leaving most of the 49er faithful to look elsewhere for the coveted tickets to this weekend's match-up with the New York Giants. That's good news for reseller StubHub, which is based in San Francisco.
"Right now what we're seeing is that prices start at about $300 per ticket, and those aren't necessarily the best seats, but you will be able to be there and potentially catch that final win that will propel the 49ers to the Super Bowl," said StubHub spokeswoman Jo Ellen Ferrer. "It is expensive, but really you're paying for the experience to be able to be at Candlestick."
While these tickets are about three times as much as last Saturday's game, StubHub did see prices drop about 25 percent the closer it got to kickoff. That wasn't because of a lack of interest but because of a glut of supply.
KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:
Ferrer said that if you have a specific section you want to be in, it's a good idea to buy early, but if you don't care where you are, and you just want to be there, you could roll the dice and wait. However, fans should bear in mind that this game is the top-searched event on StubHub so a lot of people from all over the country want in.
