Top 49er Faithful Psyched For NFC Title Game
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The San Francisco 49ers' run to the NFC Championship game has brought back memories of championships past and the team's six prior Super Bowl trips.
"The expectation outside of the 49ers headquarters wasn't that we were going to host a NFC Championship game," team president Jed York said. "This has been a special, special season and it wouldn't be that without our great, great fans throughout the entire Bay Area."
Here's a look at some of the elite '49er Faithful' fans who are psyched for Sunday's big game:
-- It's hostile territory in New York City, but there are friendly 49er faces to be found at Finnerty's Bar, which caters to Bay Area faithful living in the Big Apple. (Video profile below)
-- A South Bay man (Mark Castanon, 50 of San Jose) who calls himself the 49ers most dedicated fan has now won a nationwide contest to prove it. (Video profile below)
-- 80-year-old Irwin Herlihy has attended every San Francisco 49ers home game since 1951 (that's over 600 straight games), the longest streak in team history. (Video profile below)
