$49 Million Penthouse Breaking San Francisco Real Estate Records
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – A massive penthouse condo atop a luxury high-rise in San Francisco's South of Market is being offered for a whopping $49 million, shattering local real estate records.
The Lumina high-rise project is a couple of years away from completion, but the 15,000 square foot penthouse that takes up two stories atop one of the towers is already open for bidding.
"It's truly an iconic view home," Gregg Lynn of Sotheby's International Realty told KPIX 5. "Once you can get to the 42nd story of a building downtown, you really have the whole world at your feet."
The price tag smashes a San Francisco residential real estate record, set recently by a Pacific Heights home that listed for $39 million. While that pad has the comforts of a single-family home, Lynn said the penthouse offers that and an incredible view of the city.
"There's a family room, a library, a movie studio. All the things you would want to have in a mansion. It's just that this one is 400 feet in the sky," Lynn said.
The Lumina SF project will also have more than 650 luxury apartments, each worth about $2 million.
Lynn said they've already received several calls from all over the world from interested buyers.
