Oakland Public Works Employee Charged With Rape Of 16-year-Old Girl
MARTINEZ (BCN) -- An Oakland Public Works employee has been charged with rape and a slew of other sex crimes for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl in Antioch, a prosecutors said Wednesday.
Timothy Hackett, 46, was arrested in Antioch last week and charged in Contra Costa County Superior Court with one count of forcible rape, four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, exhibiting a minor in pornography, using a minor for commercial sex and arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, according to the district attorney's office.
Hackett appeared in a Martinez courtroom Wednesday but did not enter a plea to the charges. He is set to return to court next Thursday.
Deputy District Attorney Andrea Tavenier said the Antioch resident allegedly solicited the 16-year-old victim for sex and offered to pay her, then had sex with her on multiple occasions in June and July of this year.
During one meeting, Hackett allegedly forcibly raped the victim, she said.
He is also suspected of recording at least one of their sexual encounters, the prosecutor said. Investigators are still reviewing evidence from Hackett's computer and from the cell phones of both the defendant and victim.
Tavenier declined to specify how the victim knew the defendant but said the two are not related.
Hackett is employed in Oakland's Public Works Department, where he has worked since July 2013, according to a city staff member.
