4 More Charged In Pleasanton Sham University Immigration Scheme
PLEASANTON (CBS/AP) - Four more people are facing charges in connection with a Pleasanton university that authorities have said was a front for an illegal immigration operation.
Vishal Dasa, Anji Reddy Dirisinala, Ramakrishna Reddy Karra and Tushar Tambe pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit visa fraud on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Oakland.
Authorities have said Tri-Valley University accepted millions of dollars in purported tuition and fees from foreign nationals— mostly from India -- but the money was really to help them obtain student visas. The woman who allegedly operated the school, 41-year-old Susan Su, has previously been indicted.
An immigration official says the 25-year-old Dasa gave him a form certifying that he had been accepted at Tri-Valley when he went to the school posing as a prospective foreign student.
The alleged roles of the other three defendants have not been detailed.
