3rd Bay Area Teacher In A Week Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Student
UNION CITY (CBS SF) - For the third time in a week, a Bay Area teacher has been arrested for alleged sex acts with a student.
38-year-old Peter Kolesnikov, a teacher at James Logan High School in Union City, was arrested Thursday after police received information alleging he had engaged in sexual relations with a 16-year-old female student, according to police.
The Union City Police department said Kolesnikov was arrested at an undisclosed location in Hayward as he was on his way to meet the alleged juvenile victim.
Police said the victim, now 17 years old, claimed the relationship began with kissing and eventually led to sexual encounters in private residences and motels in Alameda County.
The sexual assaults happened numerous times during a nine-month period starting in March of 2011 and ending in November, investigators said.
Thursday, officers served a search warrant on Kolesnikov's residences in San Francisco and Berkeley.
Wednesday, a teacher at Granada High School in Livermore was arrested on 24 counts of sexual assault on a 14-year-old boy. 40-year-old Marie Johnson appeared briefly in court Friday but had her arraignment postponed until Tuesday.
On Tuesday, a teacher at O.B. Whaley Elementary School in San Jose was arrested on several counts of aggravated sexual assault involving at least one child in the 7- to 8-year-old range. 35-year-old Craig Chandler was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon on two felony counts of lewd acts on a child.
Prosecutors Friday accused Chandler of having multiple victims. His attorney said Chandler would "deny the allegations vehemently."
