31 Stolen Cars Found In Vallejo Chop Shop Raid
VALLEJO (CBS / AP) -- Authorities say they've recovered 31 stolen cars during a raid of a so-called chop shop in Vallejo.
California Highway Patrol investigator Mike Moses said that all the cars were vandalized, but not all of them had been disassembled.
The Contra Costa Times reports that during the raid Thursday evening, the suspected operator of the shop, Mikeal Dennard, was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing the cars.
The 33-year-old Dennard was being held in lieu of $300,000 bail. It's not known if he had retained an attorney.
Moses says it's the second raid of chop shop in the area in the past month. Authorities found the property and parts from nine vehicles last in San Pablo last month.
