Antioch Soldier To Get Medal Of Honor For Bravery In Afghanistan
ANTIOCH (CBS ) -- The White House has announced that Army Staff Sergeant Ty Carter of Antioch will receive the Medal of Honor.
President Obama will award Carter the nation's highest military honor for his bravery in the face of overwhelming odds on the battlefield in Afghanistan, in October 2009.
Insurgents captured the devastating Taliban attack on video.
Carter's outpost was tucked in a valley surrounded by towering mountains. Some 400 insurgents used the high ground to stage an overwhelming assault on just 53 U.S. troops.
Eight men died, but there were heart stopping heroics to defend the base.
