Colin Firth, Natalie Portman Among Big Winners At SAG Awards
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "The King's Speech" star Colin Firth and "Black Swan" star Natalie Portman have won lead-performer honors at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, securing their front-runner status for the Academy Awards.
"The Fighter" co-stars Christian Bale and Melissa Leo took the supporting-acting honors Sunday, boosting their own prospects come Oscar night Feb. 27.
"The King's Speech" capped a weeklong surge of Hollywood honors, which included an upset win at Saturday's Directors Guild of America Awards for Tom Hooper, who beat favorite David Fincher ("The Social Network").
Last Tuesday, "The King's Speech" claimed a leading 12 Oscar nominations, and it pulled a surprise win for top honors from the Producers Guild of America the previous weekend.
