3-Year-Old Vallejo Boy Hit By Car, Critically Injured

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A three-year-old boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition Thursday night after he was struck by a car in Vallejo, police said.

The boy was hit on the 1800 block of Severus Drive at 7:25 p.m.

According to police, the child, who lives in that neighborhood, had walked into the street between some parked cars and was struck by a car driven by a 52-year-old man.

Vallejo fire Capt. Joseph Castor said the boy suffered serious head injuries and was flown to Children's Hospital in Oakland for treatment.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The incident is under investigation but the driver was not arrested, police said.
