3 San Francisco Firms Among 5 Companies Selected As Certified Google Glass At Work Partners
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- Google has partnered with a handful of developers to create specialized Google Glass versions for use in daily business functions.
The Internet giant's Glass At Work development team announced its first round of certified partners, five companies that will create Glass products and software for use in industry.
Among the hundreds of developers that applied, Google has chosen APX Labs, Augmedix, CrowdOptic, GuidiGo and Wearable Intelligence.
Texas-based APX Labs makes Skylight, a business software for Glass, along with a similar product for sports fans at stadiums called Skybox.
San Francisco-based Augmedix makes Glass software for physicians that can push patient's medical data to doctors during exams.
CrowdOptic, also based in San Francisco, tracks broadcasts of live sports and news events along with live streams from Glass devices and can rebroadcast on different platforms.
New York-based GuidiGo makes software for travelers and museums that lead users on mobile guided tours.
A third San Francisco firm, Wearable Intelligence, makes a software systems for field operations in healthcare, energy and other industries.
Last November, research firm Gartner predicted wearable technology such as Google Glass could save field service industry companies – such as manufacturing or oil and gas - $1 billion a year by the year 2017.
