3 Injured In San Leandro School Bus Crash
SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) - A crash involving two cars and a school bus near San Leandro Tuesday morning injured three people, including two teenage students, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A frosty windshield is apparently to blame for the crash, which occurred at about 8:05 a.m. on southbound East 14th Street north of 165th Avenue, CHP officials said.
A 19-year-old woman driving a 2002 Toyota Camry had limited visibility because her windshield was not fully defrosted, and did not see that traffic had come to a stop for a red light at 165th Avenue, according to the CHP.
Her vehicle rear-ended a 1993 Toyota Camry stopped at the intersection, and that car was pushed into the back of a 2001 Ford Econoline school bus with four students on board, CHP officials said.
Two 17-year-old students and the driver of the 1993 Toyota complained of pain and were taken to hospitals, according to the CHP. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, according to the CHP.
